REC I/C TM-NAN/0252/2012 -Tridimensional micro/nano fabrication with femtosecond laser: advanced materials, methods and photonics applications
This project aims at the fabrication of integrated devices by femtosecond laser writing, in what concerns waveguides and microfluidic layers, both in optical fibers and in planar format. The femtoetching technique will be explored for the channels fabrication.
Two demonstrators will be realized: a planar refractive index sensor of high sensitivity and high dynamic range, and simultaneously insensitive to temperature changes; the second one will be the result of integration of a microfluidic channels and waveguides also, allowing the interferometric characterization of single cells trapped by two counter propagating light beams. Optical absorption studies on the trapped cells will be also possible on the same device.
