Project Title:

Fully-integrated microoptofluidic devices for single cell analysis and manipulation fabricated by femtosecond laser

Abstract:

We design and fabricate by femtosecond laser micromachining fully integrated microoptofluidic devices where microchannels are interfaced with optical waveguides. Possible devices are: optical traps or stretchers for single cells; lab-on-chip integrating fluorescence detection and single cell sorting by optical forces; etc. The extreme flexibility of our fabrication technique allows the realization of integrated, miniaturized, portable devices and opens up new scenarios in the field of lab-on-chip optofluidics, in particular for cytofluorimetry and fluorescence cell sorting.
