High throughput optical scanning of living cells with "lab on a chip" technologies
High throughput optical scanning of living cells in "lab on a chip" configurations are used to analyse the diffusion of protons across membranes, the local pH in cellular compartments, and the diffusion of photoswitchable fluorescence proteins. The dynamics is optically manipulated by using photoactive GFP-based fluorescence proteins.
Microplates for simultaneous imaging, micromanipulation of protein diffusion in cells and nanorheology across cell membranes allow a direct transfer to industrial applications of drug testing and cell vitality in various media.
